Philip Sheppard and his two cellos: acoustic and electric
Philip Sheppard is a British composer, cellist and Sibelius user, and this year he’s giving a series of lectures at the Royal Academy of Music in London about how to succeed as a composer in the new media age. He’s just posted the first set of tips on his blog, and there are some wise words indeed here, particularly this final tip:
12. Coffee is your friend and enemy. Keep it close, but use it wisely.

Philip wrote the soundtrack to one of my favourite movies of 2007, In The Shadow Of The Moon, a remarkable documentary about the Apollo moon missions, as told by the astronauts who made those incredible journeys. The music from this film really stayed with me in a way that is pretty rare. There’s lots of information about this film on Philip’s site. If you haven’t seen it yet, go and buy the DVD immediately!
