Back in January I posted about San Francisco-based composer/singer/songwriter/all-round-talented musician Kirk Hamilton’s new album, The Exited Door, for which Kirk used Sibelius to score many of the songs. Kirk kindly sent me a copy of the album, which I would thoroughly recommend you pick up from CD Baby. Kirk recently posted on his blog, Murfins and Burglars, about Sibelius 6, and says:
Now comes Sibelius 6, and the minute that we get copies at Urban, I’m installing it. There’s one reason for this: Magnetic Layout. In the new version, all dynamics, chord symbols, crecendo/decrecendo makings, expressions, and any other text around the staff automatically reposition themselves so that there’s never any overlap or crowding. Hit the link above and watch the demo video, and you’ll become a believer – while I’m sure it’s not perfect, it looks to come close to removing the one remaining bit of Sibelius busywork (cleaning up parts), which will save untold hours of my life.
We’ve been delighted at the reception Sibelius 6 in general and Magnetic Layout in particular has received. It really is as useful as the video Kirk links to suggests it could be!
