A training session, from Avid’s site

Avid has announced on its official blog that they are offering free training excerpts of their Sibelius certification program to music educators attending the Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California.

The sessions are January 25, 26, and 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Says Avid:

Master instructor Jenny Amaya will present training excerpts from the new Official Sibelius Certification program, including examples of the introductory, intermediate, and advanced curricula.

According to Avid, you will see a sample of the training and how the certification process works, learn about the Avid Certified Instructor and Avid Learning Partner programs, and get a complimentary copy of Sibelius First for attending (the latter with academic eligibility verification).

This would be as good a time as any to remind readers of a few things about the Sibelius blog (the site you are reading right now):

  • As stated on every page herein, the views expressed in this blog are the author’s own and do not necessarily reflect the views of Avid Technology, Inc.
  • I am not, and never have been, an employee of Avid or Sibelius, and I do not coordinate my posts with them
  • This site is managed and hosted completely independently of Avid
  • Avid is welcome to link to and embed content from this blog, as is anyone else (feel free to read more about me and this blog)

If you have questions about Avid’s training sessions, please contact Avid, not me.

If you attend NAMM, let us know how it goes!

Hm … interesting. I didn’t think that Avid would have anything Sibelius related at the NAMM. What does it mean, “Official Sibelius Certification”? Does that give someone teaching credentials which are recognized by colleges and such? I know that “Pro Tools Certified” has been around for a while (which may be useful if you are looking for a position as eg engineer in a professional studio).

Hi Peter,

Yes, similar to Pro Tools Certification, we are launching Official Sibelius Certification through our worldwide network of official Avid Learning Partner schools. We will be working with schools to establish the partnership, train & certify educators, and implement the curriculum and certification exams. We will be covering all this in more detail in the NAMM training sessions for music educators: http://community.avid.com/blogs/default.aspx?GroupID=35

Avid is planning a significant showing of Sibelius and third party notation and learning products from Neuratron and Rising Software at NAMM this year.

There is also a great party planned for Friday night in collaboration with the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.
